這渡輪一周只開三班，僅夏天開。能搭上船，經驗一下，算是好運。船從North Sydney出發，在北大西洋航行十四小時，於半夜抵達紐芬蘭島。

Most of people travel to Newfoundland by air, but we chose to travel by water for a new experience. The ferry embarked from N. Sydney, Cape Breton.  It took 14 hours to across the North Atlantic Ocean to reach our destination - Agentia, Newfoundland.
 

車子在開船三個鐘頭之前就排隊，等待上渡輪。
一隊Harley-Davidson的摩托車排在我們前面。開眼界呢，Harley-Davidson 會到紐芳蘭狂飆？

看小鎮North Sydney 漸漸遠去
The little town of North Sydney gradually diminished before our eyes.

船上十四個鐘頭如何打發？那要比飛機舒服多啦。有錢的睡高級艙位，沒錢的睡開敞的上下舖。

14 hours on a ship is much nicer than on an airplane -- but only if you can
afford the luxury cabin, otherwise go sleep on the bunk bed.

我們開著車子，後車箱塞滿住宿用的帳篷炊具食物，
用八天的時間，在這個大島 蜻蜓點水似的遊玩。

Our rental car was loaded with camping gear and food.
For 8 days we drove around the vast island.
 

路上看到一條河，滔滔黑水滾滾而流，聲音有點嚇人。下車去看個究竟。
原來這裡是一處民間組織的生態保護區 Salmonid Association of
Eastern Newfoundland (SAEN) 。黑水肯定是從大片沼地而來。
沼地是另外一種天地，看那水的顔色，紅不紅，黑不黑，像乾了的血塊顔色。
就知道源頭沼地充滿了死苔等爛植物，青蛙水蛭各種昆蟲。
可惜我不住紐芬蘭，不然這地方值得去探險。
 

Along the way, we saw a darkened river and decided to take a closer look.
What thunderous sound reverberating from the river with that dried blood color!
The color indicates that the river originates from a huge bog area.
Bog land is an entirely different territory worth exploring.
Too bad I don't live in Newfoundland, otherwise I would make a trip to see the bog area.
  

想起新澤西州不也有一條黑水嗎？Double Trouble State Park，那裡的河水可是平靜安詳的呢。
秋天可以參觀那一帶蔓越莓的收成。

Now I can remember that New Jersey also has a black river,
but contrary to the one in Newfoundland, the water in New Jersey is very calm.
In Autumn, people watch the harvest of cranberries in that area.
